Volunteer
You could live in scenic Cuenca, Ecuador, a World Heritage site with winding rivers, cobblestone streets, picturesque churches and a vibrant night life. Cuenca, often called the crown jewel of Ecuador, is unrivaled in its beauty and juxtaposes ancient traditions with a modern twist: it is a city where you can enjoy roast guinea pig on a spit, wander fruit and vegetable markets, and gaze at century-old churches, and then go dancing to round off the day.
Alternatively, you could live with a family in one of the communities of the Nudo del Azuay. Residing at the foot of the tropical montane forest, toucan calls echo throughout the day and parrots noisily disrupt your afternoon siesta. You could enjoy local foods, practice your Spanish and learn Quichua, and work directly with community members to reach conservation goals.

Requirements
FCT welcomes inquiries from those with a demonstrated commitment toward conservation and a desire to work collaboratively to reach conservation goals. Speaking Spanish is desirable, but not required. Work will occur in our office in Cuenca as well as in rugged field conditions in forests and páramos above 11,000 feet. See current volunteer positions for specific requirements.
Work Schedules
You will work 5 days a week between 6-8 hours on a day, though not necessarily Monday through Friday, depending on the project. On your free days, you are welcome to explore the surrounding countryside or the many cultural events in Cuenca.
